Senior Scientist, Computational Chemistry

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Accountable for the implementation of computationally driven techniques to assist in the design of optimized compounds within drug discovery initiatives.

• Projects may vary from initial lead identification to the later stages of optimization.

• A contributor to multi-disciplinary drug discovery teams that include medicinal chemists, DMPK specialists, structural biologists, and pharmacologists.

• Proficient in structure-based design methodologies to enhance drug discovery projects in the industry.

• Play a role in the Computational Chemistry team's endeavors to apply computational chemistry and/or cheminformatics techniques.

• Formulate effective hypotheses from Protein-ligand docking for project teams.

• Create advanced Machine Learning/AI in-silico models for various DMPK/in-vitro Biology endpoints.

• Assist medicinal chemists in the creation of new compounds with favorable properties.

• Identify and help to develop/refine novel computational techniques to enhance Neurocrine's Computational Chemistry platform for Drug Discovery.

• Collaborate with stakeholders from various research functions to provide and/or exchange essential results.

⛳️ Requirements

• BS/BA degree in Chemistry with over 5 years of relevant experience.

• Knowledge of Machine Learning/AI-based predictive modeling, cheminformatics, and Protein-Ligand modeling.

• MS/MA degree in Chemistry with at least 3 years of comparable experience as mentioned above OR a minimum of 3 years of post-Ph.D. experience is preferred.

• Strong understanding of the scientific discipline.

• Good grasp of scientific principles, methods, and techniques.

• Proficient and proven ability to work with a range of laboratory equipment/tools.

• Strong computer proficiency.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.

• Detail-oriented.

• Capability to meet deadlines.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional scientists.
