Actuarial Software Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Serve as a subject matter authority for Canadian defined benefit pension plans within ProVal.

• Sustain and improve ProVal's Canadian functionalities to align with current legislation, regulations, CIA Standards of Practice, and financial reporting requirements related to pensions.

• Act as the primary liaison for Canadian clients regarding technical pension issues.

• Evaluate ProVal enhancements and client-specific solutions to guarantee technical precision, adherence to regulatory standards, and compliance with actuarial practice.

• Offer expert advice to ProVal users concerning Canadian pension applications.

• Collaborate closely with programmers and consultants to devise and execute client-specific solutions.

• Develop and maintain clear, practical user documentation and training resources.

• ProVal is primarily developed in APL; prior programming experience is not necessary, and training will be provided.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or a related field.

• CIA designation (FCIA) or substantial progress toward qualification is advantageous.

• Over 8 years of experience in conducting actuarial valuations of defined benefit pension plans in accordance with Canadian legislation.

• Extensive knowledge of Canadian pension funding regulations, CIA Standards of Practice, and financial reporting related to pensions.

• Experience with pension projections and forecasting is a plus.

• Experience in managing projects and professional relationships is beneficial.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team setting.

• Previous experience with ProVal is an advantage.
