Senior Scientific Software Engineer, AI Simulation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Maintain and enhance current scientific software packages, while overseeing the complete lifecycle of new developments.

• Design and implement innovative scientific and machine learning software in collaboration with subject matter experts.

• Embrace contemporary practices and ensure stability through rigorous testing.

• Collaborate closely with the Engineering Team to integrate these modules into SandboxAQ’s simulation platform.

• Manage dependencies, utilize containerization, and incorporate software into CI/CD pipelines.

• Integrate with computing and data backends.

• Define API endpoints and their corresponding schemas.

• Partner with the engineering team to develop user interface components.

• Maintain and provide support for the production deployments of scientific software packages.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field such as physics, chemistry, biology, or computer science.

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software development, focusing on designing and maintaining robust software systems while collaborating with domain experts to create effective solutions.

• Strong proficiency in Python, including experience with numerical and performance libraries like Numpy.

• Familiarity with machine learning libraries such as PyTorch.

• Experience with essential development tools and environments (git, Unix/Linux, cloud platforms, containerization).

• Proficient in utilizing LLM tools and coding practices to build efficiently while ensuring clarity, security, and maintainability for long-term development.

• Capacity to swiftly produce high-quality code without allowing perfection to hinder progress.

• Ability to conceptualize, communicate, and take ownership of technical roadmaps in a self-directed setting.
