Senior RPG Programmer/Analyst, Synon

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, maintain, and support applications on the IBM i / AS400 platform.

• Focus primarily on RPG, RPGLE, CL, and IBM i SQL to enhance and support existing enterprise applications.

• Contribute to applications that feature Synon2/E (COOL 2/E) components.

• Analyze business and technical requirements, transforming them into effective, practical solutions within a client environment.

• Engage in the complete software development lifecycle, covering analysis, development, testing, implementation, and post-production support.

• Diagnose production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions to enhance application stability.

• Collaborate with business users, developers, analysts, and support teams across various initiatives.

• Assist in incident, change, and problem management activities in alignment with established operational processes.

• Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, and advancing development best practices.

• Aid in improving the reliability, maintainability, and supportability of core business applications.

• Offer support and mentorship to less experienced team members when required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in IBM i / AS400 application development.

• Strong hands-on expertise in RPG / RPGLE.

• Familiarity with CL and IBM i SQL.

• Working knowledge of Synon2/E (COOL 2/E).

• Experience in supporting, maintaining, and enhancing client enterprise applications.

• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment, and support.

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, especially in production support environments.

• Capability to work effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.

• Ability to prioritize tasks across development, maintenance, and support activities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, IT, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
