Senior Risk Strategist – Card Fraud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the strategy and execution regarding card fraud, while also contributing to the wider fraud strategy across related areas.

• Utilize data and quantitative analysis to create fraud controls, mitigate risks, and enhance customer experience while managing trade-offs.

• Collaborate with Compliance and Legal teams to ensure that solutions comply with regulatory standards.

• Lead cross-functional initiatives with Product, Engineering, and Operations to design and implement scalable risk management solutions.

• Act as a domain authority in card and transaction fraud, proactively identifying gaps and promoting systemic enhancements across fraud initiatives.

• Establish and monitor metrics that assess both risk effectiveness and impact on customer experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in an analytical role, with at least 4 years focused on card fraud detection and strategy.

• Extensive knowledge in card and transaction fraud, including authorization controls and card network regulations.

• Experience in designing and implementing fraud strategies across related areas (e.g., onboarding, ACH, checks, RTP, ATO).

• Proficient in customer risk scoring/modeling and process automation.

• Strong SQL skills and the ability to convert data into actionable strategies.

• Proven history of balancing risk, compliance, and customer experience in cross-functional environments.

• Outstanding communication skills to distill complex risk concepts into clear recommendations.

• Demonstrated capability to operate amidst ambiguity and make decisions based on incomplete information.

• Inquisitive, growth-minded, and driven to tackle fraud challenges at all stages of the product lifecycle (new product launches, scaling, and legacy optimization).
