Senior Risk Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Develop the risk framework. Define and take ownership of the parameters that will dictate the operational guidelines of the exchange: maximum open interest, position size thresholds, leverage tiers, and margin requirements for various account types.

• Create liquidation and insurance fund protocols. Set up the processes and infrastructure necessary for managing liquidations and transferring risk through hedging strategies or counterparty relationships when required.

• Establish risk monitoring systems. Design the tools and systems that will provide the team with ongoing visibility into account health, concentration of exposure, and the solvency of the exchange.

• Define operating protocols. Create the playbooks that outline how the team should respond during stressed market conditions, significant position accumulations, and potential disruptions to the exchange.

• Develop your own tools. Utilize Python, SQL, or any necessary technology to create internal tools for assessing risk and staying ahead of emerging exposures.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive trading experience with a background in a trading firm or exchange.

• Practical experience in managing liquidations and navigating critical moments in active markets.

• Strong understanding of the operations of major cryptocurrency exchanges.

• Comprehensive knowledge of margin mechanics, funding rates, index pricing, and mark pricing across crypto derivatives exchanges.

• Ability to act swiftly and decisively under pressure when real money is at stake.

• Robust counterparty relationships and comfort in collaborating with trading firms to mitigate risk.

• (Preferred) Proficiency in Python, SQL, or other data analysis tools for developing risk monitoring systems.
