Senior Risk Control Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Conduct on-site assessments and risk management surveys of moderately complex operations for both current and prospective policyholders.

• Evaluate potential exposures and existing controls; generate risk management reports and convey findings to insured parties and agents.

• Provide consultation to policyholders regarding operations, claims trends, insured coverages, loss drivers, exposures, and suggestions for improvements.

• Tailor consultative services, including hazard control assessments, ergonomic evaluations, and slip-and-fall inspections.

• Collaborate with Risk Control team members and subject matter experts on complex technical inquiries.

• Supply updates to Underwriting, Sales, and Claims teams to enhance renewal decision-making processes.

• Promote risk control services through visits to agencies and participation in agency or association meetings.

• Provide advanced training and conduct on-site loss control evaluations.

• Create written recommendations aimed at controlling hazards and preventing or mitigating insured losses.

• Identify accounts that would benefit from ongoing routine services or focused short-term interventions.

• Analyze historical losses and current exposures for highly complex accounts.

• Document customized services in service reports.

• Build positive relationships with accounts and agents.

• Perform other assigned duties as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree, ideally in safety, engineering, industrial safety, fire protection, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

• A minimum of three years of experience in a risk control or safety capacity, or comparable experience.

• Alternative Risk Control Specialist qualification: Bachelor's degree in safety, engineering, industrial safety, fire protection, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience, along with five years of experience in risk control or a safety role, or related experience.

• Certification as a Certified Safety Professional is preferred.

• Proficient computer skills, including the Microsoft Office Suite.

• Extensive knowledge of safety regulations in industrial, construction, fire, and commercial automotive environments.

• Familiarity with nationally recognized standards and codes, such as OSHA, DOT, and NFPA.

• Capacity to comprehend and assess risk.

• Skill in identifying and visualizing potential loss exposures.

• Strong problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent customer service skills.

• Capability to work effectively both collaboratively and independently.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.

• Proficient verbal and written communication skills, including documentation abilities.

• Travel is required.

• A valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report as per company standards is required if driving.
