• Collaborate with Clinical to develop and document billing and coding protocols, ensuring consistent implementation across all payer types.
• Lead processes for denial prevention and appeals, track root causes, identify patterns, and address systemic gaps.
• Ensure billing compliance and operational readiness for every new insurance plan accepted by Hey Jane; this role focuses on establishing the billing infrastructure before care delivery, rather than negotiating contracts.
• Work alongside Product and Engineering teams to assess RCM and AI tools, optimizing EHR and billing system configurations, including automations, reporting, and integrations.
• Facilitate state expansion by operationalizing billing for new Medicaid programs and payer launches.
• Identify and address operational gaps within the revenue cycle, creating scalable processes that minimize manual work and enhance accuracy.

• Over 7 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle or billing operations, with a minimum of 2 years in a management or leadership role.
• Strong preference for candidates with Medi-Cal/Medicaid billing experience; multi-state Medicaid experience is a significant advantage.
• Preferred background in telehealth, reproductive health, or women's health.
• Proficient understanding of clearinghouse workflows, ERA/EOB reconciliation, and CPT/ICD-10 coding for reproductive and virtual care.
• Practical experience in configuring and managing billing systems and EHRs; must be comfortable acting as the internal subject-matter expert.

• Strong cross-functional collaborator, capable of working effectively with Clinical, Business Development, Finance, Product, and Clinical Operations without requiring intermediaries.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to simplify complex billing issues into clear escalations, documentation, and updates for leadership.
• Thrives in dynamic, ambiguous environments; must be adaptable, resourceful, and solution-focused.
• A strong passion for Hey Jane’s mission and a dedication to enhancing access to essential healthcare services.
• Compensation: $140-150k + equity.
