This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.
• Take charge of and uphold revenue recognition policies and procedures in accordance with ASC 606 for licensed software, SaaS, online products, implementation, and support services.
• Prepare and assess monthly revenue journal entries, deferred revenue roll-forwards, and account reconciliations.
• Document variable consideration, contract modifications, and multi-element arrangements.
• Oversee revenue-related contract costs, software publisher/royalty expenses, and manage capitalization and amortization schedules.
• Track and reconcile deferred commission and contract cost balances, while evaluating for impairment.
• Contribute to the monthly and quarterly close process, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance explanations.
• Calculate bad debt reserves and analyze aged accounts receivable.
• Reconcile intercompany accounts, including transfer pricing, and address any variances.
• Assist with general ledger responsibilities and various ad hoc accounting projects.
• Aid in sales and use tax research, nexus analysis, and accounting entries in collaboration with Tax and external advisors.
• Collaborate with external auditors by preparing PBC schedules and responding to audit inquiries.
• Work alongside billing, collections, sales operations, and customer success teams to address accounting questions and billing disputes.
• Deliver revenue and gross margin reporting and analysis in partnership with FP&A and business leaders.
• Recognize and execute process enhancements to improve accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Over 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Significant exposure to revenue recognition within a technology or software company.
• Profound knowledge of ASC 606, including multi-element arrangements, contract modifications, and principal vs. agent considerations.
• Practical revenue accounting experience across SaaS, subscription and perpetual licensing, professional services, and web-based products.
• Strong understanding of ASC 340-40 contract cost accounting.
• Experience with bad debt reserve methodologies, encompassing aging analysis, historical loss rates, and specific identification.
• Capability to prepare and review PBC schedules and support external audit activities.
• Advanced Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, XLOOKUP, and complex formulas.
• Familiarity with a major ERP system such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate technical accounting concepts to non-accounting stakeholders.
• CPA designation preferred.
