This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Review customer agreements, order forms, modifications, renewals, and pricing structures to ensure compliance with revenue recognition under ASC 606.
• Assess non-standard contract terms and collaborate with Deal Desk, Sales, and Legal to determine the appropriate accounting treatment.
• Analyze the revenue implications of subscription, usage-based, and consumption-based pricing models.
• Prepare and examine revenue compliance checklists for customer transactions.
• Assist in monthly revenue closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, flux analysis, and management reporting.
• Conduct thorough analyses of revenue, deferred revenue, and associated balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Collaborate with Billing, Revenue Operations, Order Processing, Customer Success, and Deal Desk to ensure accurate customer data flow throughout the Order-to-Cash process.
• Aid in the launch of new products, pricing strategies, and system enhancements by assessing revenue accounting implications and working cross-functionally during implementation.
• Identify opportunities to enhance revenue processes, fortify internal controls, and utilize automation for greater scalability.
• Support improvements to NetSuite, Salesforce, CPQ, and other revenue systems to boost operational efficiency and data integrity.
• Prepare audit documentation and assist with external audit requests, ensuring all documentation is comprehensive and audit-ready.
• Aid in SOX readiness and public-company initiatives by maintaining robust documentation, controls, and accounting processes.
• Engage in special projects related to new business models, system implementations, acquisitions, and strategic finance initiatives.
• 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally combining both public accounting and industry exposure.
• Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue recognition in a SaaS context.
• Experience in reviewing customer contracts, order forms, amendments, and renewals to ascertain suitable revenue recognition treatment.
• Preferred experience in supporting subscription and usage-based (consumption) pricing models within a SaaS framework.
• Familiarity with NetSuite and Salesforce (SFDC); experience with Salesforce CPQ, billing platforms, or revenue automation tools is advantageous.
• Experience collaborating on system implementations or process enhancements involving financial systems is preferred.
• Proven ability to work effectively with Sales, Deal Desk, Billing, Revenue Operations, Legal, FP&A, and external auditors.
• Strong analytical abilities to assess complex transactions, identify risks, and propose practical solutions.
• Displays curiosity, sound judgment, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in analyzing large datasets using Excel and other reporting tools.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• Experience with Big Four or regional public accounting firms is preferred.
