This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of intricate revenue streams by evaluating contracts, determining revenue recognition treatment, and implementing ASC 606.
• Examine customer contracts, performance obligations, transaction prices, and revenue timing in multi-element arrangements.
• Prepare and review schedules for revenue recognition, deferred revenue, contract assets, and liabilities.
• Address complex revenue accounting challenges using technical guidance and sound judgment.
• Create and document technical accounting memorandums.
• Design, implement, and uphold SOX internal controls over revenue processes.
• Provide guidance to Sales, Legal, and cross-functional teams on contract structuring.
• Oversee revenue-related closing activities and verify reported results.
• Enhance revenue processes through automation and standardization.
• Assist in internal and external audits as a subject matter expert.
• Analyze revenue trends and variances, offering actionable insights.
• Review reconciliations and confirm system-generated revenue outputs.
• Standardize revenue accounting methodologies, documentation, and controls.
• Aid in system implementations and enhancements.
• Evaluate the impact of new accounting standards and ensure proper adoption.
• 8+ years of experience in revenue accounting, technical accounting, or public accounting.
• Extensive exposure to ASC 606 and complex contract analysis within a SaaS or comparable environment.
• In-depth knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue recognition principles.
• Strong experience in analyzing complex customer contracts and multi-element arrangements.
• Expertise in deferred revenue and contract balances.
• Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal controls for financial reporting.
• Proficient with ERP systems and revenue subledger tools such as NetSuite or similar.
• Advanced Excel capabilities and the ability to analyze large, complex datasets.
• Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities with sound judgment.
• Strong communication and cross-functional stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in utilizing automation or AI tools to enhance financial processes.
• CPA certification is highly preferred.
• Experience in SaaS or financial technology environments is desired.
• Background in Big 4 or public accounting is preferred.
• Familiarity with RevPro or Zuora is a plus.
• Experience in supporting system implementations or large-scale process improvements is desired.
