Senior Relay Field Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Edits design documents throughout the drawing set, including Single Line, AC/DC Elementary, Wiring, Panel Arrangement, and Bill of Material/Material List.

• Conducts End-To-End testing.

• Executes IED testing, both manually and using automated test sets (such as the Doble 6150, Omicron, Manta) for protection and control schemes.

• Recognizes common risks linked to testing and commissioning those schemes and systems.

• Creates test plans, risk assessments, and practical applications for basic protection and control systems and schemes.

• Evaluates scope and drawing interpretations to develop detailed functional guidelines and risk assessments.

• Directs individuals and tasks within larger projects or provides technical and personnel leadership on projects with clearly defined scopes of work.

• Conducts weekly site safety inspections.

• Oversees the application of HP with the approval of the Project Lead.

• Adheres to Company and Customer policies and procedures.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution or an Associate/AET degree with a focus on power systems preferred.

• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in relay testing and commissioning in substations.

• Proficient in using a basic volt-ohm meter and familiar with hand tools.

• Skilled in reading and interpreting One Line, AC & DC Elementary, and Wiring diagrams.

• Competent in computer usage, networking, and Android/iPhone applications: proficient in Microsoft Office suite, mapping drive letters for server connections, and installing and connecting handheld device apps to ‘The Cloud’ or other necessary locations.

• Capable of performing regular fieldwork in diverse environments, conditions, and weather.

• Able to read company manuals and reports, workplace rules, and procedures; communicate with poise and confidence using correct English.

• Holds a valid driver’s license and maintains a good driving record.

• Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written, due to the nature of safety-related materials, documentation, and client interactions.
