This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• This position, reporting to the Field Service Engineering Supervisor, is tasked with delivering support to the Field Service Representatives (FSR) by offering solutions to challenges that exceed their technical expertise.
• The Field Service Engineer will initiate, oversee, and finalize PLM design and release projects aimed at addressing field service failures and facilitating product improvement changes for both current and future builds.
• Foster strong, reliable relationships with the Field Service Representative team.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues while ensuring compliance with all relevant specifications.
• Keep updated on new products and features to inform the Technical Publications and Training Content teams of necessary updates for technical publications and training materials.
• Provide assistance to fellow Field Service Engineers as required.
• A Bachelor's Degree in automotive-related fields such as Automotive Technology, Automotive Technology Management, Field Service Operations, Advanced Vehicle Systems, Automotive Engineering, Automotive Engineering Technology, Automotive Service Technology, and Automotive Industry Management is preferred, but not mandatory.
• A minimum of 5 years of engineering-level technical service support experience within the automotive manufacturing (OEM) sector.
• At least 8 years of experience with school buses or over 10 years in medium duty truck fields.
• Engineering-level knowledge in chassis, body, electrical, and/or powertrain systems.
• Familiarity with CAN communication and/or the J1939 protocol.
• Proficient with standard medium/heavy duty tools, including Allison Doc, Cummins InSite, Bendix A-com, IDS, and others.
• Skilled in advanced tooling such as PICO scope and knowledgeable about commercial CAN analysis platforms like PEAK or Vector.
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis processes and programs.
• A valid Commercial Class B driver’s license.
• Proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite.
