Senior Relay Field Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Reviews and annotates design documents throughout the entire drawing set (including Single Line, AC/DC Elementary, Wiring, Panel Arrangement, and Bill of Material/Material List).

• Conducts End-To-End testing.

• Executes IED testing, both manually and using automated test sets (such as the Doble 6150, Omicron, Manta) for protection and control schemes.

• Recognizes common risks related to testing and commissioning those schemes and systems.

• Formulates test plans, risk assessments, and applies fundamental protection and control systems and schemes practically.

• Assesses scope and interprets drawings to develop comprehensive functional guidelines and risk assessments.

• Directs teams and tasks within a larger project or provides both technical and personnel leadership on projects with clearly defined scopes of work.

• Conducts weekly site safety inspections.

• Facilitates the application of HP with the approval of the Project Lead.

• Adheres to Company and Customer policies and procedures.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university or an Associate/AET degree with a focus on power systems preferred.

• At least three (3) years of experience in relay testing and commissioning within substations.

• Proficient in using simple volt-ohm-meters and working with hand tools.

• Skilled in reading and interpreting One Line, AC & DC Elementary, and Wiring diagrams.

• Strong computer, networking, and mobile app skills: proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, mapping drive letters for server connections, and managing handheld device apps with 'The Cloud' or other locations as needed.

• Capable of performing regular fieldwork in diverse work environments, conditions, and weather.

• Competent in reading company manuals and reports as well as workplace rules and procedures; able to communicate with confidence and clarity in English.

• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

• Ability to effectively communicate in English (reading and writing) due to the nature of safety-related materials, documentation, and client interactions.
