Senior Quality Engineering / Test Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Establish testing strategies, quality standards, and automation frameworks across engineering teams.

• Create, develop, and uphold scalable automated test frameworks and suites.

• Execute automated functional, UI, API, integration, regression, performance, and security testing.

• Promote shift-left testing and quality practices throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

• Integrate automated testing and quality gates into Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

• Craft test plans, test cases, and test scenarios; ensure that requirements are both testable and traceable.

• Investigate test failures, pinpoint root causes, and drive towards resolution.

• Test intricate enterprise applications, distributed systems, APIs, databases, and microservices.

• Confirm the reliability, scalability, resiliency, security, performance, and production readiness of Azure applications.

• Formulate testing and evaluation strategies for Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, chatbots, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and intelligent search.

• Guide QA engineers and developers on best practices in automation and quality engineering.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

• Over 7 years of experience in software Quality Assurance (QA) / Quality Engineering.

• More than 5 years of hands-on experience in test automation.

• Experience testing enterprise-scale applications in Agile/Scrum environments.

• Proven experience working directly with development teams throughout the SDLC.

• Strong proficiency in at least one of the following: Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or Puppeteer.

• Experience in building and maintaining automation frameworks.

• Familiarity with automated regression testing and CI/CD-based test execution.

• Hands-on programming experience in at least one of the following: C#/.NET, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or PowerShell.

• Experience with REST APIs, Postman, and Swagger/OpenAPI.

• Expertise in automated API validation, integration testing, and contract testing.

• Practical experience testing applications within Microsoft Azure.

• Knowledge of Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions.

• Proven experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, including quality gates and release validation.

• Familiarity with Azure services such as App Services, Functions, AKS, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Storage, API Management, Monitor, Application Insights, and Entra ID.

• Experience with load/performance testing and API performance validation.

• Understanding of software security testing and vulnerability assessments.

• Working knowledge of Generative AI, LLMs, AI agents, RAG, Azure OpenAI, and/or Azure AI Search.

• Awareness of AI testing challenges such as hallucinations, grounding, accuracy, consistency, reliability, and output evaluation.

• Advanced proficiency in both conversational English and Spanish is essential.

• If residing in Mexico as a foreigner, valid INE, CURP, NSS, and RFC are required.

• ISTQB Advanced, CSTE, AZ-900, or AZ-204 certification is preferred.

• Experience testing AI-enabled business applications is preferred.

• Familiarity with microservices, Kubernetes, and containerized applications is preferred.

• Experience in establishing Quality Engineering practices across engineering teams is preferred.
