Senior Qualitative Researcher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee intricate qualitative and mixed-methods research projects.

• Offer strategic guidance, methodological expertise, client consultation, and supervision for prominent research initiatives.

• Create and design qualitative data collection tools, such as interview guides and focus group protocols.

• Organize and execute pilot and cognitive testing sessions with up to nine participants per instrument.

• Formulate and apply qualitative interviewer protocols addressing research ethics, informed consent, trauma-informed interviewing, guide administration, and secure data management.

• Validate site interviewers through scored mock interviews and co-facilitate interviewer training sessions.

• Perform ongoing fidelity quality assurance by systematically reviewing session audio samples.

• Provide written evaluations and initiate refresher training as necessary.

• Aid in the development of codebooks, encompassing definitions, application and exclusion rules, and coded illustrations.

• Support processes ensuring inter-rater reliability.

• Conduct biannual all-site training sessions, including qualitative methods training tailored for health department personnel.

• Contribute methodological insights and training materials to the replication toolkit.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be capable of obtaining and retaining the necessary customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment, and property.

• Proven experience in developing qualitative instruments and executing pilot and cognitive testing.

• Background in training and certifying interviewers, particularly in trauma-informed and stigma-aware interviewing methods for hard-to-reach demographics.

• In-depth knowledge of qualitative coding and codebook creation.

• Master’s degree and at least seven (7+) years of pertinent experience, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
