Senior QA Automation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• Design, maintain, and scale robust frameworks using Playwright for E2E flows and APIs, ensuring scripts that are maintainable, stable, and high-value.

• Automate API tests, microservices, and E2E flows leveraging Playwright with TypeScript and adhering to best practices in test architecture.

• Support the strategy for load, stress, and performance testing using K6, analyzing bottlenecks and validating that the platform can handle critical transactional peaks.

• Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to break down user stories, identify edge cases, and design test scenarios aligned with the actual business risk.

• Integrate AI tools, LLMs, and copilots into the QA lifecycle to optimize code generation, synthetic data creation, regression prioritization, and result analysis.

• Incorporate automation into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring stable execution, clear reporting, and effective coordination with DevOps.

• Elevate quality standards through code reviews, pipeline optimization, quality metrics definition, and the application of development best practices.

• Validate data, results, and process consistency using SQL in PostgreSQL, MySQL, and tools like DBeaver.

• Analyze test results, identify improvement opportunities, and propose continuous optimization of the automation framework.

• Complement automation with functional or manual testing when context, criticality, or flow maturity requires it.

• Report bugs, suggestions, and improvements with traceability, clear severity/priority criteria, and a focus on business impact.

• Actively participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to defining the DoD and DoR from the QA Automation perspective on critical requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in QA Automation or solid experience in building and maintaining automation frameworks.

• Proven experience with Playwright, TypeScript, and Cucumber under the Page Object Model (POM) pattern.

• Experience in automating APIs, microservices, and E2E flows.

• Demonstrable experience in performance, load, or stress testing, ideally with K6.

• Mastery of automated functional testing strategies, integration, E2E, regression, and smoke tests, aligned with acceptance criteria and business needs.

• Advanced SQL skills in PostgreSQL, MySQL, and tools like DBeaver.

• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.

• Advanced knowledge of Git, best practices in branching, peer review, and code review.

• Good coding practices and SOLID principles applied to automation.

• Functional knowledge of AWS, especially S3 and integration services.

• Ability to conduct functional/manual testing when the context requires it.

• Experience working under Agile/Scrum methodologies.

• Excellent documentation, traceability, and issue management skills.

• AI-ready mindset: practical use of AI assistants for case generation, regression prioritization, coding support, and result analysis.
