Senior Python Engineer, Document App

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.

📋 Description

• Create and enhance backend systems that facilitate real-time collaborative document editing for tens of thousands of simultaneous users.

• Take responsibility for the content model and data persistence layer, encompassing schema design, migrations, compatibility, and maintainability.

• Develop and oversee Kafka and NATS event-driven pipelines that handle high volumes of frontend interactions.

• Contribute to the reliability, observability, and operational excellence of Python microservices.

• Deliver product features from backend architecture to production monitoring.

• Participate in the development of AI-driven capabilities, including agentic document workflows.

• Engage in work related to content models, editor backend, data persistence, and real-time collaboration infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in Python development within production environments.

• Strong background in relational databases, SQL, schema design, migrations, and query optimization.

• Practical experience with message queues and event-driven architectures such as Kafka, NATS, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies.

• In-depth understanding of AsyncIO and concurrent systems.

• Experience in building and managing microservice architectures at scale.

• Ability to analyze distributed systems, consistency, ordering, and failure modes.

• Knowledge of the complete development lifecycle from requirements gathering to deployment and production monitoring.

• Proficient spoken and written communication skills in English.

• Regular use of AI tools with a critical approach to their outputs.

• High sense of ownership and the capability to work independently.

• Preferred: experience in building or integrating AI agents, LLM-powered workflows, or agentic systems.
