Senior Python Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +18 more states.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and maintain web applications utilizing Python, Django, and Flask.

• Implement enhancements and new features to boost system performance, usability, and workflow efficiency.

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues through code analysis, debugging, and system monitoring.

• Maintain application dependencies and libraries to satisfy security and compliance requirements.

• Collaborate with product owners, designers, technical teams, data scientists, and engineers within a cross-functional Agile team.

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to best engineering practices.

• Develop and maintain automated testing procedures.

• Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.

• Create and maintain technical documentation.

• Ensure solutions adhere to accessibility, security, and quality standards.

• Integrate Jupyter Notebook workflows into production environments.

• Manage version control and collaborative coding using Git.

• Optimize PostgreSQL database interactions and schema design.

• Utilize Unix/Linux environments for development, deployment, and troubleshooting.

• Work with HTML and JavaScript to facilitate full-stack development.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Over 5 years of professional experience in Python development.

• Practical experience in developing and maintaining applications using Django and Flask.

• Proficiency in Flask and building RESTful APIs.

• Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems and command-line tools.

• Strong understanding of Git for version control and collaborative development.

• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL database design and query optimization.

• Familiarity with test-driven development methodologies and automated testing frameworks.

• Working knowledge of HTML and JavaScript.

• Experience deploying and supporting applications on AWS, Cloud Foundry-based environments, Heroku, or similar PaaS solutions.

• Experience utilizing Jupyter Notebooks for data analysis, reporting, or visualization.

• Ability to articulate technical concepts and architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• USA Citizenship is required.

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust.

• Must be currently residing in, or willing to relocate to, AL, CO, DC, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, LA, MD, MN, MS, NC, NJ, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, or VA.

• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes is preferred.

• Contributions to open-source Python projects or active involvement in developer communities are preferred.

• Experience with advanced data processing or machine learning pipelines is preferred.

• Experience supporting federal government, mission-driven applications is preferred.

• Knowledge of WCAG and Section 508 compliance is preferred.

• Familiarity with secure software development practices is preferred.

• Experience working in Agile development environments is preferred.

• Experience supporting cloud-hosted applications and modern DevSecOps practices is preferred.
