This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee detailed compensation and classification studies for organizations in the public sector.
• Assess job descriptions, organizational frameworks, reporting structures, and employee surveys.
• Conduct interviews with employees and management to gather insights on job responsibilities and organizational requirements.
• Analyze positions utilizing established classification methodologies.
• Create suitable job families, classifications, grades, and career progression frameworks.
• Execute compensation market surveys within the public sector and identify relevant peer organizations.
• Examine external competitiveness, internal equity, salary compression, and pay relationships.
• Formulate salary schedules, pay grades, ranges, and options for implementation.
• Review positions to ensure compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and advise on exempt or non-exempt classifications.
• Develop fiscal-impact models and phased implementation plans.
• Deliver findings and recommendations to executive leadership, elected officials, boards, and employees.
• Contribute technical expertise to government proposals, scopes of work, and project work plans.
• Ensure that methodologies, findings, and recommendations are thoroughly documented and defensible.
• A minimum of seven years of experience in compensation, classification, or human resources consulting.
• Direct experience in conducting compensation and classification studies for municipalities, counties, public utilities, or other governmental entities.
• Proven experience in developing public-sector pay plans and salary structures.
• In-depth knowledge of FLSA classification standards.
• Experience in performing job analyses, market surveys, internal equity assessments, and salary compression evaluations.
• Ability to interpret complex compensation data and convert findings into actionable recommendations.
• Excellent report-writing, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel or similar analytical tools.
