This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Independently assess, evaluate, estimate, and manage complex property claims exceeding $250,000+ within the claims organization's operational area.
• Manage high-exposure or intricate losses, ensuring exemplary customer service and precise claims processing.
• Guide and mentor entry-level large loss specialists.
• Primarily oversee large personal and commercial property losses ($250,000+) encompassing structures, contents, ALE, scheduled property, and business income losses.
• Conduct inspections and generate extensive property estimates, including total losses, for both residential and commercial properties utilizing estimating guides and software.
• Assist in risk assessments for homeowners and commercial entities, including verifying insurance to value, identifying coinsurance penalties, and documenting any alterations or heightened hazards to the risk.
• Adhere to Encova’s claims organization policies and protocols regarding communication, verification of coverages, liability determination, loss investigations, claims valuation, report completion, and claims negotiation and settlement.
• Engage in catastrophe claims management across the entire footprint, which may require overnight travel or extended stays when necessary.
• Mentor, develop, and offer guidance to entry-level large loss specialists.
• Frequent travel to loss sites, often with minimal notice, is a requirement for this position. Interact with agents impacted by catastrophic losses or events, keeping them informed about loss developments and reserving activities. Attend seminars, conferences, or workshops for professional development. Perform additional duties as assigned.
• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in insurance, construction, risk management, or a related field is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in property claims handling, including large and/or complex claims.
• Proven excellence in claims negotiation, communication, and investigation skills.
• Outstanding time management and organizational abilities.
• Strong comprehension of complex policy language and the capability to implement investigative techniques.
• Must adhere to established quality and productivity standards.
• Ability to work autonomously, identify and resolve issues, and make informed decisions.
• Continuing education is highly preferred and can be partially or fully obtained through: Industry seminars or workshops; Vale National Estimating Academy; IIA - Associate in Claim designation; and/or CPCU.
• Must possess or be willing and able to obtain licensure in all operational states.
• Extensive knowledge of all personal and commercial lines policies and coverages offered by Encova is required.
• Expert knowledge of building reconstruction is essential.
• Must have considerable expertise and proven proficiency with all property estimating software utilized by Encova.
