Senior Property Claims Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Exercise independent judgment and discretion while managing significant commercial and personal property claims in the assigned region.

• Conduct investigations or oversee the investigation of commercial property claims.

• Interview insured individuals, claimants, and other parties as necessary.

• Inspect property damage and assess information to create estimates.

• Evaluate claims and provide recommendations regarding coverage.

• Assess liability and total claim value, and negotiate settlements.

• Identify available coverage and ERIE’s liability; recognize potential subrogation opportunities.

• Arrange for repairs related to insured losses.

• Settle claims and maintain thorough documentation of files.

• Communicate with insureds and agents about settlements or adjustments.

• Direct the activities of required experts.

• Collaborate with the department manager to develop and implement departmental policies and procedures.

• Analyze performance at the regional and branch levels, making recommendations for management.

• Assist in onboarding new employees and training property claims specialists.

• Coordinate catastrophe teams alongside regional CAT coordinators.

• Act as a consultant for branch offices on commercial property claims.

⛳️ Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED is required.

• A bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• A minimum of seven years of experience in property adjusting is necessary.

• Proficiency in Windows software is required.

• Must be willing to obtain and maintain the necessary licenses.

• Appropriate state-required license is necessary.

• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are mandatory.

• AIC designation or CPCU 3 or 4 is preferred.

• Must participate in the Catastrophe Team, which may involve short-notice travel to various locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks.

• Ability to drive and travel regularly within the designated territory is required.

• Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory.

• Capability to lift/move weights of 0–20 lbs and 20–50 lbs; ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aids.

• Ability to climb and access heights is required.

• Consistent and reliable attendance is essential.

• Excellent time management and organizational skills are preferred.
