Senior Project Manager – Engineering Design

📋 Description

• Oversee intricate engineering, architecture, construction, or facility projects from start to finish.

• Define and manage project scope, budgets, schedules, staffing plans, work breakdown structures, and performance baselines.

• Facilitate coordination among multidisciplinary teams in engineering, architecture, construction, procurement, commissioning, and client relations.

• Oversee project financials, including forecasting, cost control, invoicing, earned value analysis, profitability, and accounts receivable management.

• Create and uphold comprehensive project management, quality, safety, risk, communication, and change-management plans.

• Track performance and identify challenges related to scope, timeline, budget, quality, safety, resources, and contractual obligations.

• Conduct kickoff meetings, progress discussions, client presentations, risk assessments, and executive status updates.

• Engage with clients, leadership, subcontractors, vendors, regulatory agencies, and project teams effectively.

• Evaluate contracts, proposals, change orders, and commercial conditions.

• Manage change control processes and assess impacts on scope, cost, schedule, and resources.

• Ensure all deliverables are thorough, coordinated, technically sound, and compliant with codes, standards, regulations, and client requirements.

• Advocate for quality assurance and quality control throughout the project lifecycle.

• Assist in business development through client relationship management, proposal creation, and pursuit strategies.

• Mentor project managers, engineers, designers, and other team members.

• Oversee closeout procedures, including documentation, financial reconciliation, client acceptance, and lessons-learned evaluations.

• Foster safety, ethical behavior, collaboration, continuous improvement, and exceptional client service.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, project management, business, or a related technical field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.

• 15 years of experience in engineering/architectural design and project management within healthcare, industrial, advanced manufacturing, chemicals, life sciences, or similar sectors.

• Proven experience managing complex projects that involve multiple disciplines, stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and vendors.

• Experience with complex project management in the A/E/C consulting sector.

• Familiarity with design-bid-build, design-build, EPC, EPCM, and integrated project delivery methodologies.

• Proven capability in managing scope, schedule, budget, resources, risk, quality, safety, procurement, and contractual obligations.

• Strong financial and business acumen, including skills in forecasting, cost management, change management, and project performance reporting.

• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Ability to cultivate client relationships and influence stakeholders without direct authority.

• Strong analytical, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.

• Capacity to handle multiple priorities and adapt to evolving project requirements.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar platforms.

• Willingness to travel up to 25% to client, project, or company locations.

• Preferred qualifications: PMP certification; PE, RA, or similar credentials; experience with commissioning, validation, heavy process equipment, cleanrooms, laboratories, GMP, regulated environments, operational/process/utility/facility-infrastructure projects, client development, proposals, contract negotiations, and account management.
