This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Direct and coordinate the engineering and design of assigned projects, as well as the technical aspects of the contract.
• Facilitate timely decision-making regarding project technical issues, consulting internal technical authorities as needed.
• Establish and manage the technical interface among all parties involved in the project, including engineers, customers, and subcontractors.
• Collaborate with functional engineering teams to create estimates, schedules, and change orders.
• Provide technical and delivery leadership for the project.
• Be accountable for engineering interfaces with multiple disciplines, business project management, subcontractors, and customers.
• Oversee subcontractor engineering work on assigned projects.
• Identify critical technical project issues and ensure their timely resolution.
• Recognize technical risks and implement risk mitigation strategies.
• Ensure that engineering activities adhere to customer, internal, and regulatory requirements.
• Support commercial and marketing initiatives for Engineering, including generating the technical sections of proposals.
• Keep project and engineering management informed about project progress, performance, and resource utilization, with a focus on delays, adverse trends, errors, and omissions.
• Collaborate with Chief Consulting Engineers to coordinate Engineering Design Reviews as necessary for successful project completion.
• Evaluate engineering performance on the project to ensure quality, adherence to design processes, procedures, and the completeness of engineering tasks.
• Promptly review Design Change notices, identify change order candidates, segregate cost collection, and assist the Project Manager with relevant aspects of change order management.
• Conduct Responsible Configuration Management reviews as required for assigned projects.
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited institution.
• At least 8 years of experience in project management, design, or operations within the power industry.
• Nuclear operator license or training certification.
• Understanding of nuclear business products, processes, customers, and the competitive landscape.
• Proven track record of meeting project budget, schedule, and quality commitments.
• Experience with Government contracts and contracting requirements.
• Willingness and ability to travel.
• Experience in boiling water or advanced reactors and/or a comparable technical environment.
• Previous experience working with architect engineers and subcontractors.
• Proficiency in IT and computer skills.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically, innovate, and act swiftly.
• Established credibility with peers and management based on experience.
• Strong technical aptitude, including familiarity with applicable engineering tools and systems.
• Experience with the Primavera project scheduling tool.
• Graduate of GE leadership programs (PMLP, JOLP, or similar).
• Six Sigma training (BB, DFSS, etc.) for GE employees only.
