Senior Program Manager – Smart Utility

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Supervise a collection of related projects, managing high-level strategies, budgets, and cross-team communication to fulfill contractual obligations for significant and strategic Smart Utility initiatives.

• Ensure that interconnected project efforts align with the long-term business objectives and customer expectations.

• Serve as the primary CNM Smart Utility contract negotiator for major and strategic contracts.

• Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams, partners, OEMs, subcontractors, customer stakeholders, and support teams.

• May oversee direct reports who act as second-tier program managers.

• Develop the initial Program Governance Plan at the start of the project.

• Coordinate with external customers, political stakeholders, project management teams, sales teams, OEM representatives, accounts receivable/payable representatives, partners, subcontractors, and OEM participants.

• Manage funds and share resources across projects; create or acquire tools necessary for successful project delivery.

• Address significant issues and overlapping project requirements; assist project management teams in ensuring customer satisfaction and project success.

• Facilitate conflict resolution and manage changes internally and externally.

• Conduct negotiations to secure advantageous terms, control costs, and mitigate risks.

• Draft and review contract terms, service level agreements, and Memoranda of Understanding while ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.

• Work in collaboration with city departments, elected officials, and legal counsel.

• Monitor vendor or labor performance, track milestones, and address contract disputes or grievances.


⛳️ Requirements

• Must be at least eighteen years old.

• Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and screening.

• Proven track record in leading large, complex public-sector programs that involve multiple stakeholders, subcontractors, consultants, and customer organizations.

• Experience acting as the primary contact for municipalities, counties, utilities, or other public-sector entities.

• Familiarity with utility infrastructure, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), smart utility technologies, or extensive metering programs.

• Preference for experience in water utilities; experience in electric or gas utilities will also be considered.

• Background with a utility, engineering consulting firm, infrastructure contractor, technology provider, or metering manufacturer.

• Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, change management, and executive communication abilities.

• Capable of establishing customer trust, building credibility with executive stakeholders, and managing high-visibility programs.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Public Administration, Project Management, Utility Management, or a related field.

• A Master’s degree is preferred.

• PMP, PgMP, CCM, PE, or other relevant professional certifications are preferred.
