This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver fully functional Temporal implementations by collaborating with customer and partner engineering teams to build initial workflows.
• Teach and implement production-safe workflow patterns, including retries, timeouts, heartbeats, determinism, and versioning.
• Proactively identify and eliminate early activation blockers before they escalate into larger issues.
• Assist customers in setting up and managing Temporal Server in production environments, including self-hosted setups.
• Define deployment strategies, scaling, and operational guardrails, such as upgrade protocols, failure management, and capacity planning.
• Set observability and reliability benchmarks by establishing metrics, alerts, and dashboards for workflows, workers, and the Temporal Server.
• Develop repeatable runbooks, templates, examples, and documentation to enhance delivery quality across engagements.
• Conduct hands-on workshops and training sessions for customer and partner engineers.
• Take ownership of complex technical delivery challenges from start to finish, collaborating with Support and Platform Architects.
• Offer product and engineering insights based on implementation patterns and failure scenarios.
• Proven experience in delivering and managing production systems where reliability and incident response are critical.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, including failure modes, scaling trade-offs, and operational safety considerations.
• Proficient in hands-on coding in at least one major programming language such as Go, Java, Python, or TypeScript.
• Experience in deploying and managing production services in cloud-based and/or self-hosted environments.
• Capability to design and articulate operational standards, including on-call readiness, runbooks, and capacity planning.
• Comfortable engaging directly with customers during critical delivery situations.
• Excellent debugging skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity and real-world constraints.
• Ability to teach and empower fellow engineers.
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration systems, distributed task processing, or durable execution concepts.
• Proven track record in developing observability programs, reusable reference architectures, templates, or enablement initiatives.
• Strong partnership skills with product and engineering teams.
• Experience working with partners or service delivery models at scale.
• Base-salary variable compensation with an 85/15 split.
