This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver production-ready implementations of Temporal by collaborating with customer and partner engineering teams to build initial workflows.
• Implement and instruct on production-safe workflow patterns, which include retries, timeouts, heartbeats, determinism, and versioning.
• Proactively identify and eliminate initial activation blockers before they escalate into larger issues.
• Assist customers in setting up and operating the Temporal Server in production environments, including self-hosted setups.
• Outline worker deployment strategies, scaling measures, and operational guidelines, encompassing upgrade strategies, failure management, and capacity planning.
• Establish standards for observability and reliability by defining metrics, alerts, and dashboards for workflows, workers, and the Temporal Server.
• Develop repeatable runbooks, templates, examples, and documentation to enhance delivery quality across various engagements.
• Conduct hands-on workshops and training sessions that empower customer and partner engineers to operate safely and independently.
• Take ownership of complex technical delivery issues from start to finish, collaborating with Support and Platform Architects to minimize escalations to Engineering.
• Provide actionable feedback on products and engineering based on real-world implementation patterns and failure experiences.
• Proven experience in delivering and managing production systems where reliability and incident response are critical.
• Strong comprehension of distributed systems, failure modes, scaling trade-offs, and operational safety practices.
• Proficient in coding with at least one major programming language such as Go, Java, Python, or TypeScript.
• Experience in deploying and managing production services in cloud or self-hosted environments.
• Capability to design and communicate operational standards, which include on-call readiness, runbooks, and capacity planning.
• Comfortable engaging directly with customers during high-pressure delivery situations, maintaining a calm and credible demeanor.
• Strong debugging abilities and adeptness in navigating ambiguity and complex real-world constraints.
• Skill in teaching and enabling fellow engineers.
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration systems, distributed task processing, or durable execution concepts.
• A successful history of building observability programs, including dashboards, alerting strategies, and operational maturity models.
• Ability to create reusable reference architectures, templates, or internal enablement initiatives.
• Collaborative skills to work with product and engineering teams and translate field insights into roadmap enhancements.
• Experience working with partners or service delivery models at scale.
