Senior Professional Coder – Profee Surgery

📋 Description

• Conduct advanced surgical coding for professional fee services, handling complex cases.

• Apply ICD-10 and CPT4 coding systems for all diagnoses, treatments, and procedures.

• Offer coding expertise and support to clinical personnel.

• Achieve and maintain a coding accuracy of 95% or higher while fulfilling set productivity goals.

• Address and resolve coding errors and discrepancies before finalizing codes.

• Adhere to coding policies and legal standards to ensure compliance with both federal and state regulations.

• Detect trends in documentation shortcomings and relay improvement suggestions to leadership and/or providers.

• Serve as a primary contact for physicians and clinical staff regarding coding and compliance matters.

• Provide training for newly hired coders and mentor less experienced staff.

• Develop and deliver educational sessions in collaboration with the Revenue Integrity Professional Coding Educator.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of coding experience in both inpatient and outpatient surgical settings.

• Proficiency in Surgery Coding guidelines, E/M Coding Guidelines, CPT Coding, ICD-10, Modifiers, HCPCS, and CCI edits.

• Experience in pediatric, orthopedic, and/or injury coding.

• Background in education and presentation delivery.

• Working knowledge of Medical Terminology.

• Understanding of professional coding practice standards.

• Familiarity with MS Office suite.

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Current CCS-P (AHIMA) or CPC (AAPC) certification is necessary.
