Healthcare Advocate, Medical Coding

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of significant medical billing and insurance cases from start to finish.

• Evaluate whether the procedure, diagnosis, and modifier codes on an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) align with the services rendered.

• Detect coding discrepancies and escalate or contest them with the relevant parties.

• Champion user interests by diligently advancing cases.

• Clearly communicate with users, managing expectations and providing updates on progress.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in patient or healthcare advocacy, medical billing, or health insurance.

• At least 2 years of practical experience in medical billing or coding, with a solid understanding of CPT and ICD-10.

• A formal coding certification (CPC, CPC-H, or equivalent) is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Comfortable collaborating directly with provider offices, health insurers, and debt collection agencies.

• Must possess a strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and handling of PHI.
