Senior Production Manager – OSP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Plans, directs, coordinates, and manages all internal activities associated with OSP engineering and Broadband production services using a proactive management approach.

• Oversees assigned client OSP engineering and Broadband production projects from inception to final delivery.

• Works in collaboration with Project Managers to define project scope, identify activities outside the scope, establish timelines, and ensure client expectations are fulfilled.

• Provides leadership and technical guidance for the OSP engineering team, which includes training, mentoring, workflow management, and professional development.

• Acts as the technical subject matter expert in OSP fiber network engineering, design, and construction deliverables.

• Manages the design and engineering of outside plant fiber optic networks for residential, commercial, municipal, and broadband service provider projects.

• Reviews and approves construction drawings, fiber routing plans, splice diagrams, and associated engineering documentation.

• Ensures that service orders are accurately interpreted and translated into engineering and construction outputs.

• Supervises field survey activities and verifies existing infrastructure for integration into new network designs.

• Manages all QA/QC activities for engineering and production outputs to ensure adherence to company, client, and industry standards.

• Identifies and manages project risks, escalates issues as necessary, and recommends solutions to mitigate impacts on cost, schedule, and quality.

• Coordinates with cross-functional teams, third-party vendors, municipalities, utilities, and external stakeholders as needed.

• Maintains engineering records, project documentation, and design standards in line with company and client requirements.

• Develops, implements, and continuously enhances production workflows, design standards, best practices, and quality management procedures.

• Collaborates with Sales, IT, Finance, and Operations teams to support reporting, resource planning, pricing, and initiatives for business growth.

• Provides timelines, forecasts, resource planning, and workload management across various projects and clients.

• Executes advanced engineering and production tasks that require extensive technical knowledge and independent decision-making.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in fiber optic outside plant engineering and production management.

• At least 5 years of proven leadership experience in managing engineering and/or production teams.

• Strong expertise in OSP fiber network engineering, design, construction methods, and deployment practices.

• Experience in managing complex, multi-project workloads in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.

• Solid understanding of fiber optic technologies and relevant industry standards, including RUS, BICSI, and NESC.

• Experience in processing service orders and producing engineering packages for construction.

• Familiarity with GIS platforms, CAD applications, and fiber management systems.

• Proven success in implementing project scheduling, production management, and quality assurance processes.

• Strong comprehension of customer, utility, municipal, and jurisdictional requirements impacting OSP deliverables.

• Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, GIS, Urban Planning, Real Estate, Land Use, Telecommunications, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred; or an Associate Degree in Computer Aided Design (CAD), Engineering Technology, or a related discipline with equivalent industry experience is required.
