This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Take charge of the backlog and maintain story quality for a complex engagement, which often involves multiple engineering tracks or workstreams.
• Convert product strategy and roadmaps from a 3Pillar PM or client PM into epics, stories, and acceptance criteria with a significant level of independence.
• Confidently navigate ambiguity: identify gaps in requirements, facilitate the right discussions to address them, and make well-informed decisions when direction is lacking.
• Lead and conduct backlog refinement sessions; ensure the team is not stalled waiting for story clarity.
• Actively engage in all Agile ceremonies as a senior, well-prepared contributor, and assist in enhancing the effectiveness of these ceremonies.
• Mentor and support POs within the engagement; review their stories, elevate quality standards, and invest in their professional growth.
• Collaborate with UX to ensure that research findings and design decisions are accurately and comprehensively reflected in the backlog.
• Clearly communicate backlog health, scope risks, and delivery signals to the PM and Delivery Lead.
• Advocate for AI-enhanced backlog practices—demonstrate effective use of AI in story writing, acceptance criteria, and requirements analysis; assist the team in adopting these practices.
• Provide product context in client-facing sessions when necessary—be credible and articulate regarding scope, requirements, and trade-offs.
• Over 7 years of experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst on software delivery teams—intentionally senior-weighted in relation to industry standards, reflecting the autonomy and complexity expected at this level.
• At least 4 years of experience in a consulting, professional services, or agency setting.
• Demonstrated history of owning complex backlogs across multi-team or multi-track engagements.
• Experience working under both internal PM direction and direct client PM/PO guidance.
• Strong Agile/Scrum practitioner; understands how backlog quality influences delivery outcomes.
• Highly autonomous—capable of identifying and addressing requirements gaps without needing direction.
• Proficient in collaborating with client PMs and POs: able to take direction, provide constructive feedback when necessary, and establish productive working relationships.
• Credible in client-facing product discussions: clear on scope, requirements, and trade-offs.
• Excellent written communication skills; produces documentation that engineering, QA, and stakeholders can rely on.
• Effective in globally distributed, cross-cultural teams.
• Utilizes AI tools as a standard component of the PO workflow—not merely as an experiment.
• Coaches and exemplifies AI-enhanced backlog and documentation practices for the wider team.
• Employs AI to expedite requirements analysis, edge case identification, acceptance criteria drafting, and sprint preparation.
• Critically evaluates AI outputs and assists others in doing the same.
