This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Execute the Compass AI product roadmap in close partnership with the VP of Product, transforming strategic direction into well-defined, actionable tasks.
• Identify and rank high-potential AI use cases across areas such as academic advising, enrollment, financial aid, retention, and student wellbeing, leveraging our extensive library of over 170 agent concepts along with emerging market insights.
• Play a key role in guiding the transition from existing tools to agentic, autonomous workflows, which include multi-agent coordination, advisor copilots, and proactive outreach systems.
• Clearly present findings, trade-offs, and recommendations, enabling the VP of Product and leadership to make swift, informed decisions.
• Lead structured discovery sessions with institutional clients to validate assumptions, uncover unmet needs, and rigorously test AI concepts prior to development.
• Engage significantly with advisors, enrollment counselors, financial aid personnel, and other end-users to comprehend their workflows, identify bottlenecks, and explore where AI can provide real assistance. This will be a collaborative, hands-on effort, and you will not be working in isolation.
• Design and conduct pilot programs and prototype evaluations, synthesizing feedback to guide future development and identify necessary adjustments.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of a human-in-the-loop framework that guarantees AI recommendations are actionable, reliable, and appropriately escalated.
• Convert strategy into clear, actionable tasks across engineering and design, including epics, problem statements, user stories, and success criteria that equip teams to proceed without excessive specification of implementation.
• Maintain a transparent, up-to-date overview of ongoing projects, upcoming initiatives, and any changes, along with the reasons behind them.
• Identify and clarify ambiguities before they reach engineering, establishing consistent documentation and communication practices for product decisions.
• Collaborate closely with engineering to shape solutions, incorporate technical considerations from the outset, and ensure alignment on expectations before work commences.
• Proactively share roadmap updates with Sales, Customer Success, and leadership to ensure all internal teams are aware of what is being delivered and what is forthcoming.
• Work alongside Legal, Compliance, and Customer Success teams to navigate institutional and regulatory factors as new AI capabilities are implemented.
• Collaborate with the go-to-market team to ensure that AI capabilities are effectively positioned and communicated to resonate with higher education audiences.
• Support the growth of Compass AI's agent library, focusing on agent scope, trigger logic, escalation behaviors, and intervention designs across student success domains.
• Facilitate the integration of new AI tools (LLMs, workflow automation, data pipelines) into the Compass platform in collaboration with engineering.
• Stay informed about the AI vendor landscape and provide an informed perspective on decisions regarding building, buying, or partnering.
• Over 5 years of experience in product management, with a proven track record of overseeing complex, cross-functional initiatives from discovery to delivery.
• Direct experience with AI/ML products, including tools powered by LLMs, conversational interfaces, or autonomous agent systems, preferably in an enterprise or SaaS setting.
• A history of effective execution within a defined strategy. You are adept at taking direction, contributing your insights, and driving progress.
• Experience in or related to higher education, edtech, or student success platforms is advantageous. More crucial is a genuine curiosity about this field and a commitment to deeply understanding the people and challenges involved.
• Profound knowledge of the AI landscape. You actively monitor developments in models, emerging tools, agent frameworks, and competitive dynamics, and can translate these signals into clear, practical implications for a higher education product portfolio.
• Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
• Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
• Opportunities for professional development and growth.
• Flexible work environment and remote work options.
