Senior Product Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the AI Coach, including aspects such as prompting, conversation state and progression, Pinecone retrieval, model selection and evaluation, as well as the safety/crisis layer.

• Evaluate the AI Coach against scripted clinical scenarios and create evaluation harnesses for automated scenario-suite testing.

• Manage the backend using Python 3.12, FastAPI, GraphQL, SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL, and AWS.

• Oversee mobile and web delivery utilizing React Native for both iOS and Android, as well as React for web applications.

• Handle App Store, Google Play, and Stripe subscriptions.

• Lead release engineering, including CI/CD processes, environment management, signing credentials, monitoring, backups, and rollback strategies.

• Ensure rapid, safe, frequent, and reversible releases.

• Implement product sensibility to enhance mobile and web user experiences.

• Convey technical decisions in straightforward language for the founder and clinical team.

• Plan tasks, secure direction approvals, execute independently, and report results.

• Function as the initial sole engineer with limited existing documentation.

• Develop systems that comply with legally and clinically approved safety thresholds and crisis management protocols.

• Report directly to the non-technical founder.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in deploying LLM-based products to production, including prompt architecture, conversation state machines, RAG/retrieval, evaluations, moderation, and safety management.

• Strong backend engineering skills with Python, FastAPI or similar frameworks, SQL/PostgreSQL, and AWS.

• Comfortable taking ownership of infrastructure, CI/CD, and production operations independently.

• Solid experience with React Native and React, including shipping and debugging applications on both iOS and Android platforms.

• Experience with in-app purchase flows for mobile stores and Stripe for web applications.

• Proven practice in AI-first development and daily use of agentic coding tools.

• Judgement to review and manage AI-generated code effectively.

• Strong product sensibility and an eye for mobile and web user experience.

• Track record of managing a product or major system from start to finish with minimal technical oversight.

• Excellent written communication skills tailored for a non-technical founder.

• Experience or a serious commitment to privacy, security, and access controls regarding personal and health data.

• Background in mental health, health tech, or other regulated/safety-critical consumer products (a plus).

• Experience taking over a codebase from an agency or departing team (a plus).

• Mobile release operations experience (a plus).

• Knowledge of analytics and growth tooling (a plus).

• Familiarity with voice features, push notification strategies, and CRM/email platform integrations (a plus).
