Senior Product Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +27 more states.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain features utilizing React, NextJS, and contemporary JavaScript.

• Architect and implement new product functionalities while enhancing existing ones.

• Lead technical decisions and help establish best practices and coding standards.

• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to the team.

• Collaborate with product and design teams to translate requirements into sophisticated solutions.

• Enhance engineering processes and contribute to the technical strategy.

• Engage in cross-functional discussions to represent engineering viewpoints.

• Balance technical debt with feature development to ensure sustainable growth.

• Help cultivate a strong engineering culture as we develop our in-house team.

• Comply with all federal, state, and/or local regulations, OpenEd policies and procedures, and other compliance obligations.

• Lead by example to nurture an environment that aligns with OpenEd’s values and represent OpenEd with integrity and professionalism.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software development experience; ideally at early-stage companies or in founding engineering roles.

• Strong expertise in React, JavaScript, and modern frontend development.

• A passion for our mission.

• Experience with NextJS or comparable React frameworks.

• Knowledge of database design and SQL, particularly PostgreSQL.

• Proven experience in designing and implementing complex features.

• Experience mentoring junior developers and providing technical guidance.

• Solid understanding of performance optimization and industry best practices.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teams.

• Capacity to work efficiently in a remote environment.
