This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Take ownership of the design infrastructure that propels Momentus' AI-first product approach.
• Evaluate current product-line-specific Figma libraries, and spearhead the transition to a component system that integrates into code with tokens serving as the source of truth.
• Develop and maintain system documentation that is readable by LLMs, ensuring accessibility for designers, engineers, and Claude.
• Manage the context layer: structured prompt libraries, MCP server integration, and system artifacts that ensure Claude delivers consistent, on-brand, and accessible outputs.
• Create governance frameworks that consider AI-generated code alongside human-authored contributions.
• Monitor and report on system health metrics linked to business outcomes: product velocity, cycle time, and shipped features, as well as coverage and adoption metrics.
• Direct the design of Momentus' AI interaction patterns as the main design surface, addressing non-deterministic outputs, trust and transparency issues, agentic workflow UIs, and the gradual disclosure of AI behavior.
• Establish standards for the appearance, feel, and communication of AI features across all product lines.
• Develop reusable patterns for various supporting surfaces, including onboarding flows, reporting and analytics interfaces, and dashboards.
• Collaborate with the Engineering team to define token architecture, component APIs, and the front-end structure that enhances scalability and AI-agent compatibility.
• Work with Product Management to align system work with the AI-first product roadmap.
• Enhance the design team's capabilities through collaboration, critique, and informal mentorship across all product lines.
• Define and maintain visual and interaction quality standards throughout all product lines.
• Advocate for accessibility in accordance with WCAG 2.2 AA, utilizing AI tools (automated audits, contrast checks, alt-text generation) to expedite compliance rather than view it as a burden.
• Participate in design reviews, providing feedback rooted in system standards and AI-first principles.
• Oversee the annual generation of VPAT across all product lines, coordinating with Engineering and QA to evaluate compliance, accurately document findings, and publish updated reports on a regular schedule.
• Proven experience in building or significantly enhancing a design system within a multi-product B2B SaaS context.
• Proficient in AI-assisted workflows, specifically using tools like Claude, Claude Code, and Claude Design.
• Comfortable creating shippable components and contributing to a communal component repository.
• Well-versed in design tokens as a source-of-truth architecture, component APIs, and front-end frameworks that ensure AI-agent compatibility.
• Experience designing AI interaction surfaces, including non-deterministic outputs, agentic workflows, and trust and transparency strategies.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills, capable of producing system guidance that is beneficial for both LLMs and human engineers.
• Experience in a remote, cross-functional work environment.
• Flexible work arrangements.
• Professional development opportunities.
