Senior Product Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and design deliverables that are ready for production.

• Assist in shaping high-level product strategy by ensuring we address the right questions and cater to the most critical internal and external user needs.

• Lead and perform necessary design and user research.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, working alongside Product Managers, Engineers, Content Operations, SEO Strategists, Product Analysts, and fellow designers to transform concepts from ideation to execution.

• Collaborate closely with engineers and PMs to assess constraints and trade-offs.

• Oversee design projects while incorporating feedback from other design team members to maintain design quality and consistency throughout the user experience.

• Gain insights into the competitive landscape and remain informed about outstanding user experiences, particularly in sports apps, sports media, and news-related products.

• Contribute actively to The Athletic’s Design System.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in designing shipped product experiences for both web and native mobile applications.

• Strong skills in Visual and Interaction Design, demonstrated in an online portfolio or presentation.

• In-depth knowledge related to sports and/or media.

• Experience collaborating directly with other designers on projects and indirectly to give and receive feedback on work.

• Background in working with engineers, product managers, other cross-functional partners, and stakeholders while maintaining a high standard of quality and professionalism.

• Capability to manage time effectively, often across multiple projects.

• Proficient in Figma and familiar with Adobe Creative Suite.

• Practical experience using AI to create concepts and live experiences.

• Familiarity with prototyping and animation as tools to explore and communicate design solutions.

• A desire to experiment, innovate, and learn — along with a willingness to learn from errors.

• Passion for being an active participant in a multidisciplinary design studio and a collaborative design process.
