Senior Product Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage the design lifecycle for a designated Ignition platform product area, encompassing research, grooming, validation, and iteration.

• Create and present high-quality, production-ready design work autonomously.

• Evaluate the overall user experience and all possible scenarios, including errors, successes, and dead ends.

• Utilize Inductive Automation’s design systems while suggesting enhancements.

• Participate in medium-to-large features that span across teams or departments.

• Negotiate project scope and technical trade-offs with engineering and product partners.

• Facilitate design reviews and offer specific, actionable feedback to peers.

• Address ambiguous problems and drive progress when requirements are lacking.

• Take initiative on unassigned tasks and enhance shared tools and processes.

• Contribute to the design direction and identify any conflicts with overarching product objectives.

• Keep abreast of current design tools and methodologies, sharing valuable practices.

• Mentor junior designers through constructive feedback and collaborative efforts.

• Assist in the hiring process when needed.

• Collaborate with product management and engineering to translate defined challenges into design solutions and oversee their production.

• Aid in creating solutions for industrial automation clients by enhancing operational efficiency and integration.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5 years of professional experience in product design.

• A portfolio showcasing shipped, production work that includes research, iteration, and final outcomes.

• Proven experience designing complex, stateful software from end to end.

• Strong communication skills, particularly in leading design reviews and cross-functional meetings.

• Capability to define solutions amidst incomplete requirements and escalate issues when ambiguity hampers progress.

• High expertise in at least one technical domain, such as data visualization, intricate workflows, or accessibility.

• Proficient in Figma, including the development and maintenance of design systems and management of complex components across various projects.

• Ability to quickly prototype using mockups, interactive prototypes, and wireframes.

• Experience working with engineering and stakeholders on collaborative or cross-team projects, including scope negotiation and technical trade-offs.

• Must reside within the United States.

• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

• Preferred but not mandatory: Bachelor's degree in Design or a related field.

• Preferred but not mandatory: Experience in independently conducting user research.

• Preferred but not mandatory: Experience with generative AI in design practice.
