This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Establish the foundational design framework for FORT, encompassing a design system, interaction model, and component library for FORT Manager and upcoming platform interfaces.
• Create the physical interaction interface for FORT hardware, focusing on device status, safety indications, button arrangements, LED signaling, and tactile feedback.
• Define interaction patterns between humans and robots for monitoring, trusting, intervening, and recovering autonomous systems across both hardware and software.
• Design workflows that emphasize AI, including the AI Assistant interface, fleet observability dashboards, anomaly detection, and operator guidance experiences.
• Conduct field research with industrial operators and OEM engineers in real-world deployment settings; perform usability testing and convert insights into actionable design decisions.
• Develop comprehensive platform journeys for floor operators, OEM integration engineers, fleet administrators, and safety stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Product, Firmware, Software, Hardware, and Operations teams to convert technical limitations into practical design solutions.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in product or interaction design.
• At least 2 years of experience in environments that combine hardware and software, such as robotics, IoT, industrial automation, automotive, or similar fields.
• Experience in creating a design system or component library from the ground up.
• Background in physical interaction design focused on conveying hardware status, intent, or safety information.
• Experience in field research, including contextual inquiries, operator shadowing, or usability testing in actual environments.
• Proficient in Figma or similar tools, as well as Claude.
• Capability to prototype intricate, multi-step workflows with high fidelity.
• Familiarity with AI-driven workflows utilizing AI tools for design, prototyping, and research synthesis.
• Preferred: experience in safety-critical or regulated product environments, including expertise in human factors or IEC 62366 standards.
• Preferred: background in human-robot interaction, autonomous systems, or physical AI platforms.
• Preferred: knowledge of basic HTML/CSS front-end development.
