This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Oversee the architecture and design of essential software components, libraries, and tools that meet avionics system requirements.
• Guide the technical direction and execution of development and verification activities for safety-critical software in compliance with DO-178 standards.
• Define and manage software requirements, ensuring proper decomposition and traceability across intricate systems.
• Create and validate software using contemporary C++ and object-oriented design methodologies.
• Take ownership of and generate DO-178 certification artifacts, including DAL-A deliverables.
• Lead and assist in certification initiatives, involving collaboration with customers and regulatory bodies.
• Conduct and participate in peer reviews throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Work in partnership with engineering teams, program leadership, and customers to ensure technical solutions meet program goals.
• Travel as needed, both domestically and internationally, limited to less than 10% of the time.
• Influence system-level design, advocate for open architecture initiatives, and advance technologies for aerospace applications.
• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree in a related area with at least 7 years of experience.
• U.S. citizenship is mandatory; only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information pertaining to the program/contract.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and developing software architecture, libraries, or platform-level components in an aerospace or safety-critical context.
• Capability to lead technical project execution, engage with customers, and present to senior stakeholders effectively.
• Practical experience in supporting DO-178 software development and certification processes, including requirements management, verification, or certification artifact generation.
• Experience in collaborating across cross-functional engineering and program teams to deliver complex, integrated solutions.
• Familiarity with C++ and VxWorks is preferred.
• Experience in drafting High-Level and Low-Level Requirements is preferred.
• Experience in developing Test Cases and Automated Test Procedures is preferred.
• Experience with Civil Certification DO-178 DAL A is preferred.
• Background in Flight Management Systems, software, aircraft applications, or middleware is preferred.
• Understanding of revision control concepts and tools such as GIT, Subversion, and JIRA is preferred.
• Willingness and capacity to travel domestically and internationally, limited to less than 10% of the time.
