
Senior Principal Systems Architect – Power Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Create and standardize reference architectures for power generation, data centers, microgrids, and hybrid facilities.
• Spearhead the integration of assets within the fence line, including gas turbines, battery energy storage systems (BESS), STATCOMs, substations, and electrical equipment.
• Establish system baselines, define interfaces, and develop validation strategies, encompassing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
• Collaborate with internal business units and external partners to ensure technical alignment.
• Evaluate power system studies, such as load flow, short circuit analysis, protection coordination, and arc flash assessments, to maintain design integrity.
• Offer technical guidance to engineering teams and promote best practices in systems engineering.
• Oversee design and integration processes from initial concept through to commissioning.
• Facilitate technical execution while upholding high standards for safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Power Systems, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
• 12 to 15+ years of experience in power generation, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects, or transmission and distribution infrastructure.
• Extensive knowledge of equipment and industry standards related to “inside-the-fence-line,” including IEEE, ANSI, IEC, NERC, and NFPA.
• Demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex technical interfaces.
• Outstanding communication skills with the capability to influence executive leadership and regulatory stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
• An advanced degree in a relevant technical field is preferred.
• Proficiency in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and requirements management tools is preferred.
• Experience with PLC/SCADA systems, IEC 61850 architectures, and grid code compliance is preferred.
• In-depth understanding of lifecycle asset management and reliability engineering is preferred.
