Senior Principal Systems Architect – Power Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Create and standardize reference architectures for power generation, data centers, microgrids, and hybrid facilities.

• Spearhead the integration of assets within the fence line, such as gas turbines, battery energy storage systems (BESS), STATCOMs, substations, and electrical equipment.

• Establish system baselines, define interfaces, and formulate FAT/SAT validation strategies.

• Collaborate with Grid, Gas Power, Digital teams, and external partners to promote technical alignment.

• Assess load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, and arc flash studies.

• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams.

• Oversee system design and integration from initial concept through to commissioning.

• Coordinate technical execution while ensuring adherence to safety, reliability, and operational efficiency standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Power Systems, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.

• 12–15+ years of experience in power generation, EPC projects, or transmission and distribution infrastructure.

• Extensive knowledge of equipment within the fence line and standards including IEEE, ANSI, IEC, NERC, and NFPA.

• Proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex technical interfaces.

• Outstanding communication skills with the capability to influence executive leadership and regulatory stakeholders.

• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

• An advanced degree in a relevant technical field is preferred.

• Proficiency in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and requirements management tools is preferred.

• Familiarity with PLC/SCADA systems, IEC 61850 architectures, and grid code compliance is preferred.

• Strong understanding of lifecycle asset management and reliability engineering is preferred.
