Senior Principal Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Define the technical vision for the creation and development of a highly scalable, fault-tolerant online Betting and Gaming platform.

• Lead the architecture for essential, cross-functional systems, ensuring that solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and designed for long-term reuse.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Platform leaders to prioritize, sequence, and make technical trade-offs across various teams and domains.

• Drive the design and implementation of intricate technical initiatives that span teams, systems, and regulatory constraints.

• Establish and enhance engineering standards, design principles, and review practices.

• Identify and address systemic technical risks, performance bottlenecks, and architectural conflicts.

• Mentor senior engineers and influence technical decision-making throughout the organization.

• Act as a trusted technical leader for executives and cross-functional stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 15 years of software engineering experience, with extensive expertise in backend and distributed systems.

• Demonstrated ability to establish technical direction and influence architecture across multiple teams or domains.

• Exceptional system design and architectural judgment, particularly in complex, high-scale environments.

• Extensive experience in building secure, reliable, and efficient production systems.

• Proven track record of leading significant, cross-functional technical initiatives from design through to adoption.

• Strong engineering judgment regarding scalability, operability, maintainability, and technical trade-offs.

• Experience in creating platforms, services, or frameworks that provide leverage across an engineering organization.

• Excellent communicator capable of influencing at both technical and executive levels.

• Must be willing to occasionally travel to Fanatics Betting & Gaming offices and other locations for conferences, events, meetings, and team-building activities.

• Preferred: experience in core platform domains such as identity and account systems, payments and transactions, loyalty and promotions, platform engineering, or developer productivity.

• Preferred: experience with mobile cross-platform technologies, e.g., Kotlin Multiplatform.

• Preferred: experience thriving in dynamic, high-growth startup environments.
