This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more state.
• Oversee the execution of tax equity and preferred equity investments, including hybrid structures, from the term sheet phase through to closing.
• Identify, structure, price, and document transaction risks effectively.
• Act as the technical expert on partnership structures, as well as tax and capital account basis matters.
• Assist junior team members in resolving complex, deal-specific transaction challenges.
• Prepare and present investment opportunities to the Investment Committee for initial screening and final investment decisions.
• Lead negotiations with sponsors and capital partners, including those who may present challenges.
• Review and rigorously assess intricate partnership and hybrid financial models.
• Collaborate with Legal, Tax, and Risk departments on critical issues and ensure IRS compliance.
• Contribute to building institutional infrastructure that enables capital partners to underwrite Crux as a General Partner.
• Mentor team members and promote the adoption of AI-driven workflows throughout the deal lifecycle.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Environmental Studies, or a related field; an MBA or advanced degree is advantageous.
• 10–12+ years of experience in renewable energy, structured finance, or infrastructure investment.
• Proven experience in leading tax equity transactions, including hybrids.
• Strong understanding of partnership structures and issues relating to tax and capital account basis, including DROs, basis, allocations, safe harbor, and recapture.
• Broad knowledge across solar, wind, and storage technologies, including familiarity with emerging categories.
• Excellent risk assessment capabilities.
• Proficient in leading and negotiating transaction documents, including partnership flips, T-flips, and preferred equity; experience with sale-leasebacks is a plus.
• Strong modeling skills with the ability to review and rigorously test complex partnership and hybrid models.
• Demonstrated tenacity, persistence, ownership, and a genuine passion for the work and its mission.
• Capability to lead discussions at the Investment Committee, guide a team, and independently resolve challenging questions.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
• A credible track record suitable for capital-partner diligence regarding Crux as a General Partner.
• Strong technological and AI skills, or a proven ability to adopt new technologies rapidly.
• Previous experience at a bank, especially in project finance, structured products, or leveraged finance, or at a developer/sponsor is highly desirable.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
• Possession of FINRA SIE, Series 79, and 63, or readiness to obtain them under Crux's broker-dealer sponsorship.
• Work remotely from anywhere in the US and Canada.
