This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malawi.
• Oversee daily financial transactions, ensuring they are accurate, complete, and compliant with organizational policies and GAAP standards.
• Manage payment processes, maintain general ledger entries, and conduct bank and cash reconciliations.
• Generate periodic financial reports and assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Aid in budget formulation, monitoring, and grant financial oversight, including tracking expenses and reporting discrepancies.
• Facilitate procurement finance processes, maintain contract financial records, and manage fixed assets.
• Support payroll processing, statutory filings, and both internal and external audit activities.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, donor expectations, and regulatory standards.
• Offer financial insights to program teams and collaborate closely with regional finance stakeholders.
• Act as the main initiator and processor of financial transactions for the Country Office, under the technical supervision of the Regional Finance & Administration Manager or Senior Finance Officer.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• ACCA or CPA professional qualification.
• 3-5 years of experience in a finance or accounting position, preferably in a grant-funded or NGO setting.
• Preferred experience managing grants from Global Affairs of Canada, FCDO, USAID, and BMGF.
• Familiarity with database management is an asset.
• Experience with the NetSuite ERP system.
• Previous involvement with a national or international non-profit organization is favored.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
