Senior Practice Director, Mainframe Application Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• The Practice Director of Mainframe Application Management will be accountable for establishing, leading, and expanding Ensono's mainframe application management practice.

• Develop and implement the strategic vision and roadmap for Ensono's mainframe application management practice, which includes incorporating AI/ML capabilities on mainframe platforms.

• Create innovative service offerings that utilize AI for optimizing mainframe applications, predictive analytics, and intelligent automation.

• Promote the adoption of AIOps in mainframe management, focusing on predictive monitoring, detection of anomalous behavior, and intelligent incident remediation.

• Cultivate thought leadership regarding AI-augmented mainframe modernization either on the mainframe or in hybrid models through industry engagement, white papers, and relationships with analysts.

• Recognize emerging trends in AI, machine learning, and cognitive computing as they relate to mainframe environments.

• Establish best practices for the integration of AI/ML models with mainframe applications and data platforms (z/OS, IBM Watson, IBM z16 AI accelerators).

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in mainframe application management with increasing leadership responsibilities.

• More than 5 years of experience in practice development, business development, or managing service portfolios.

• A proven history of establishing and expanding technology service practices or business units.

• A solid background in managing large-scale mainframe environments (z/OS, z/VM, z/VSE) for enterprise clients.

• Experience with AI/ML initiatives on mainframe platforms or within hybrid mainframe-cloud architectures.

• Demonstrated success in client-facing roles with experience engaging at the C-level.

• Profound knowledge of mainframe application platforms, development tools, and deployment processes.

• Understanding of AI capabilities on IBM Z platforms, which include Telum AI accelerators, z/OS AI Toolkit, and IBM Watson integration.

• Strong understanding of mainframe schedulers (TWS, Control-M), code promotion tools, and application monitoring solutions.

• Experience with mainframe databases (DB2, IMS, VSAM) and data pipelines for AI/ML model consumption.

• Familiarity with AIOps platforms, intelligent automation tools, and AI-driven application performance management.

• Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or other AI frameworks operating on z/OS.

• Awareness of mainframe modernization strategies, including cloud migration, containerization, API enablement, and AI-driven code transformation.

• Familiarity with DevOps, Agile, and ITIL methodologies applied within mainframe environments.

• Strategic mindset with the ability to articulate a vision for AI-enhanced mainframe application services.

• Strong business acumen with experience in managing P&L and fostering profitable growth.

• Capability to explain complex AI concepts to both technical and business audiences.

• Exceptional skills in client relationship management and executive communication.

• Proven capacity to build, motivate, and lead technical teams through transformation.

• Excellence in collaboration across sales, delivery, and operational teams.

• Strong presentation and storytelling abilities for both internal and external audiences.
