Senior Power System Engineer – Renewable, Data Center Integration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee and assist with extensive load and generation interconnection studies within ERCOT and other transmission networks.

• Interpret and apply NERC, FERC, ISO/RTO, and TSP regulations concerning generation and large load interconnections.

• Create and validate steady-state models utilizing ETAP and PSSE software.

• Develop dynamic models in PSS®E and PSCAD for substantial electronic loads, PV, wind, and BESS resources.

• Facilitate the integration of Solar/Wind/BESS Power Plant Controllers and Master Plant Controllers.

• Engage in EPC HV/MV substation design studies for data center and utility-scale renewable initiatives.

• Assist or lead microgrid design and control studies at both MV and HV levels.

• Support RTDS/RSCAD CHIL testing activities.

• Collaborate with TSPs, ISO/RTOs, developers, OEMs, and project stakeholders.

• Execute load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc-flash, reactive power, energy loss, and harmonic analysis.

• Perform PSCAD electromagnetic transient studies, encompassing TOV, TRV, insulation coordination, and SSR/SSO evaluation and mitigation.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably in Power Systems.

• At least 8 years of pertinent experience in power systems planning and interconnection.

• Extensive experience in PSS®E dynamic modeling and analysis.

• Significant experience in PSCAD EMT modeling.

• Comprehensive experience in ETAP steady-state and protection studies.

• Background in large load interconnection studies; data center experience is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with ERCOT transmission planning and compliance standards.

• Experience with generation interconnection for PV, wind, and BESS technologies.

• Proven ability in developing dynamic PSSE and PSCAD models for large inverter-based resources and electronic loads.

• Understanding of NERC, FERC, ISO/RTO, and TSP standards.

• Experience in embedding and coordinating PPC and MPC control strategies.

• Familiarity with RTDS/RSCAD CHIL testing.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not mandatory.
