Senior SQL Server Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Design and maintain resilient SQL database systems that support various application environments, ensuring optimal uptime, performance, and scalability.

• Develop and implement fault-tolerant SQL Server solutions utilizing high-availability patterns in both on-premises and Microsoft Azure settings.

• Create and deploy Microsoft SQL PaaS solutions within Microsoft Azure.

• Administer SQL Server for MS SQL versions 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, and/or 2022, along with providing support for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012.

• Strategize and execute database backup plans and perform recovery procedures in the event of a disaster.

• Oversee and maintain database storage, health, performance, sustainability, and security.

• Manage SQL Server high availability, backups, maintenance jobs, encryption, security controls, and more.

• Analyze SQL query plans, recommend optimizations, and assist developers throughout the SDLC process.

• Install, configure, and upgrade database management systems and software, including in clustering environments.

• Enhance and automate SQLDBA team operations using T-SQL and PowerShell.

• Collaborate with development teams to refine database queries and schema design, improving application performance.

• Mentor and guide junior DBAs, promoting a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology (advanced degree preferred).

• At least five (5) years of experience managing and administering enterprise-level SQL databases in SQL Server 2016 or 2017.

• A minimum of two (2) years of experience in designing and deploying Azure SQL Database PaaS solutions within Microsoft Azure.

• Five (5) years of experience in planning and implementing MS SQL database disaster recovery for enterprise applications.

• Expertise in physical database design, managing database changes, enforcing data integrity, and security management.

• Strong proficiency in query languages, especially T-SQL, with the capability to write and optimize complex queries and stored procedures.

• Familiarity with database replication, clustering, and failover strategies.

• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve intricate database-related issues while collaborating effectively across functional teams.

• Experience in installing, configuring, and patching database management systems and software.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills, initiative, teamwork, and problem-solving capabilities.

• Keen attention to detail, complemented by strong oral and written communication skills.

• Proven experience in supporting Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 databases is an advantage.
