Senior Portfolio Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the Commercial Lender during meetings with clients or potential clients.

• Conduct interviews with applicants to gather adequate information regarding their specific projects, financial requirements, and objectives to make sound risk assessments for the existing portfolio.

• Assist the Commercial Lender in ensuring that all pertinent information is submitted to the credit department promptly and efficiently for timely risk migration reviews of all credits.

• Monitor the ongoing risk associated with exposures, including regular assessments of the borrower and related entities.

• Work closely with credit administrators, credit analysts, loan processors, and other personnel to guarantee that a high standard of quality was maintained in each credit application.

• Ensure the current risk evaluation of each credit facility is precise and escalate any credits identified with increased risk.

• Maintain tickler, tracking, monitoring, and reporting systems, including pending loan and collateral documentation, ongoing operational and financial documentation, completion status of annual loan reviews, and covenant tracking and reporting.

• Possess a comprehensive understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance, including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws relevant to the role.

• Promote a positive and engaging work atmosphere for all team members by encouraging skill enhancement, coaching for improvement and development, inspiring others through actions and words, ensuring high employee morale throughout Golden 1, and embracing our mission, vision, and core values.

• Provide essential and technical guidance to management team members regarding recommendations to strategically position the Credit Union.

• Stay informed about all relevant laws, regulations, policies, and economic factors, keeping senior management updated on any changes.

• Review call report schedules and other regulatory submissions.

• Compile and present information action reports to senior management as needed.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field is preferred.

• A minimum of five years or more experience in commercial portfolio management within a financial institution and extensive financial analytics experience in the banking and financial services sector.

• Advanced understanding of the Credit Union’s operational procedures and objectives; excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.

• Proficiency in oral and written communication skills, with the ability to think strategically and implement ideas effectively.

• Extensive knowledge of data management and analysis methods.

• Strong comprehension of compliance requirements, enterprise risk management, and a comprehensive understanding of the financial services industry.

• Proven ability to work independently while fostering collaborative interactions and building partnerships across the organization.

• Strong business acumen and financial management capabilities.

• Capacity to transform conceptual information or emerging trends into management-ready, professional reports.

• Solid understanding of technology and its role as a competitive advantage in financial services.
