This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +2 more states.
• Oversee Advanced Energy United’s initiatives in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, collaborating with United policy team members to formulate and execute strategies aimed at expediting the transition to 100% clean energy and electrified transportation, while fulfilling both short- and long-term policy goals as part of United's policy framework. This may involve legislative, administrative, or regulatory actions, or a combination of all three.
• Collaborate with Advanced Energy United member companies to establish policy stances and achieve consensus on critical issues.
• Manage relationships with lobbyists on the ground and coordinate their involvement in legislative strategies and execution.
• Facilitate member engagement initiatives through direct interaction with decision-makers, including lobby days, education for legislators and candidates, earned media opportunities, and participation in legislative, regulatory, and administrative processes as required.
• Cultivate and sustain strong professional relationships with coalition partners, allies, and essential legislative and administrative personnel.
• Participate in coordination and advocacy initiatives with coalition partners to support clean energy objectives.
• Generate reports, presentations, fact sheets, and other written and visual materials necessary for educational and advocacy purposes, and deliver verbal presentations when needed.
• Collaborate with our communications team to identify opportunities for Advanced Energy United to gain earned media exposure.
• Compose press statements, conduct media interviews, write blog entries, engage in webinars, and create avenues to highlight advanced energy.
• Travel as necessary (up to 30%) within Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, and occasionally to other locations, for advocacy days, meetings with key allies and stakeholders, communications outreach, and other activities on behalf of Advanced Energy United.
• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Economics, Political Science, Public Policy, Engineering, or Communications) or relevant comparable experience; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
• At least five years of professional experience in legislative policy development, campaign initiatives, or organizing within the energy sector; experience working with business leaders is a plus.
• Preference will be given to candidates with pertinent experience in Massachusetts, Connecticut, or Rhode Island.
• A keen interest in energy and transportation topics, along with an understanding of the significance of policy advocacy in advancing an organizational agenda.
• A proactive mindset, adaptable attitude, and the capability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
• Proven experience in professional settings leading team efforts toward shared objectives and being accountable for delivering high-quality outcomes.
• Superior interpersonal relationship-building and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Must be open to travel (up to 20%).
