Senior Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with product engineering teams to design and implement a scalable, highly available AWS platform that supports interdependent products and services

• Develop and sustain reusable, self-service tools and standardized environments for development, testing, and deployment

• Automate CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure provisioning by utilizing scripting, Infrastructure as Code, and AWS services

• Create, deploy, and maintain uniform development, test, and production environments

• Establish monitoring, alerting, and observability measures

• Manage Linux-based systems and cloud networking

• Enforce security protocols across accounts, user permissions, and services

• Ensure system health through backups, updates, security patching, vulnerability assessments, and intrusion detection

• Recognize infrastructure risks and communicate them along with improvement suggestions

• Produce technical documentation and convey platform functionalities to product teams

• Engage in after-hours maintenance and on-call troubleshooting as necessary

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field with 3 years of relevant experience; or a master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• Familiarity with AWS, containerization, Terraform, and Linux

• Experience with AWS services (IAM, VPC, EC2, ECS, S3, RDS)

• Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB

• Familiarity with Azure or GCP

• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, ECS)

• Knowledge of Kubernetes

• Experience with OpenTofu or CloudFormation

• Proficiency with Terraform

• Understanding of networking concepts (subnetting, routing, DNS)

• Familiarity with Linux

• Knowledge of security and compliance measures

• Experience with Git and CI/CD practices

• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools

• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python or Bash)

• Previous experience in platform, DevOps, or infrastructure roles

• Strong troubleshooting and debugging capabilities

• Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code principles

• Knowledge of database administration and networking principles

• Experience with Agile software engineering methodologies

• Familiarity with service catalogs or developer portals such as Backstage, Port, or Cortex, including service modeling, ownership, and dependencies
